The Office of Child Protection and Safety for the Diocese of Arlington provides programs to ensure a safe environment for children within the community of the Church.
Children are the most precious resource of the family and the Church. The greatest care must always be taken when the safety of children is involved. The Diocese of Arlington is committed to providing a safe environment to all children entrusted to our care and assisting each child to grow in grace, wisdom, and virtue. The Diocesan website contains helpful information and FAQs.
Diocesan policy for the protection of children and young people applies to all volunteers and adults who work in areas where they have substantial contact with minors. This includes Religious Education, Youth Ministry, and others.
Steps to become compliant with Diocesan Policy for Child Protection:
1. Fill out background check paperwork
2. Fill out Diocesan questionnaire
3. Attend a VIRTUS Training Session
4. Maintain compliance by viewing VIRTUS refresher DVD once per year
You may access the required volunteer forms from the Diocesan website. Contact the Parish Office to request a hard copy of the forms.
Thank you for your cooperation in this important matter. We appreciate your dedication to the children at St Lawrence Parish.
